INTERNET 'ENCOURAGES STUPIDITY'
The internet risks creating a generation of "stupid' young people, according to a new book.
Many "digitally addicted" web users are being consumed by misinformation and ignorance, it is claimed.
Children are becoming hooked on an "endless digital forest of mediocrity" as websites such as MySpace and YouTube take up more of their time.
Andrew Keen, author of The Cult of the Amateur, called for governments to clean up the interner to 'address the crisis of inattention and stupidity that the digital revolution has fostered."
He also said the internet risked eroding children's moral boundaries,
He added that the rise of blogs had "undermined our sense of what is true and what is false, what is real and what is imaginary".

These kinds of people have existed for ever. They used to go round in the 19th Centruy telling people not to read trash being serialized in the penny dreadfuls by scumbags like Dickens and pick up some good improving literature instead, such as Shakespeare, professionally enhanced for use of children by that nice Mr Bowdler.
